    Purpose: Preschool teachers are responsible for the early education of children in their care. Duties and responsibilities of preschool teachers include developing and implementing interactive learning opportunities designed to engage and educate young children.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be a born-again Christian with evidenced spiritual maturity and a strong grasp of Christian education.

    • Continue to grow and mature in Christ as a godly person of integrity. A strong sense of calling and identity in Christ. Demonstrated leadership in being able to disciple those in his/her sphere of influence.

    • Able to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations.

    • Able to meet the following physical agility components: lifting (you may be required to lift 50 lbs.), sitting on floor, running, jumping, and dancing.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Implements the daily program under the direction of the director.

    • Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment conducive to learning. This includes lesson planning, setting up interest/learning centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies.

    • Provides tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning centers and play activities.

    • Uses a variety of teaching methods and evaluation tools to meet essential learning outcomes.

    • Adapts teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of the children.

    • Integrates Biblical truths and Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum.

    • Assesses the performance of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports to parents as required.

    • Supervises the classroom and playground; is responsible for behavior management in the classroom/playground in accordance with the early education discipline guidelines under the direction of the director; treats all children with dignity and respect.

    • Ensures the safety of all children at all times. Adheres to health/safety and sanitation procedures at all times.

    • Keeps a tidy and clean classroom.

    • Assists with general housekeeping tasks.

    • Attends staff meetings and training programs as deemed necessary by the director.

    Skills, Knowledge and Education Requirements:

    • Strong interpersonal skills, maintains a professional attitude in communicating with the director, assistant teacher, children and parents.

    • Strong classroom management skills.

    • Ability to develop activities that are fun and educational for young children.

    • Able to instruct young children in rules of conduct and learning new tasks.

    • Able to select the appropriate teaching method and adapt to children’s learning styles.

    • Must demonstrate patience and compassion while working with young children.

    • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

    • Must meet and maintain state requirements for teachers: Criminal History Unit background check, Pediatric CPR/First aid certification, Idaho Stars credits.

    • Knowledge, experience, and/or willingness to learn necessary computer skills required for this position.
